The Rotary Club
Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarian’s belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.
The Rotary Club of Hungerford was formed in 1986 and presently has some 30 members, both men and women. Members join one of the Club’s Committees and use their particular talents and expertise to help the local community, young people or the wider world. As well as serving others, by practical help and fund-raising, we enjoy an active social programme.
No task is too small or too big for Rotary, from providing a bench in the High Street to joining with our Rotary colleagues throughout the world to eradicate the deadly polio virus. !
Rotary International celebrated its centenary in 2005 and, throughout the world, thousands of clubs are undertaking special projects in their local communities. In Hungerford, as an example of our work, raised £10,000 for much-needed playground equipment at the Primary School.
The Club meets on Tuesdays, either at lunchtime or in the evening at The Three Swans Hotel in the High Street . Reception at the Three Swans – (01488 682721) – can provide details of meetings and who to get in touch with about becoming a Rotarian or contact Robin Dudney at firstname.lastname@example.org
