It was an idea of the CHAIN MAIL editor in the middle of July 2012 to seek a contributor for Steam Train articles for our CHAIN MAIL. So he appealed for an ongoing contributor to provide quarterly articles.

Amongst the responses was one from Tony Bartlett who actually before the first article was out had given me masses of info as well as a Steam Slideshow.

The following pages will give you a map showing the rough area of information coverage, and a ‘Timetable’ is on page 3, but please remember that we are not constantly updating! There are more details on this page about our sources of information!
Usually at the top left corner you will see a date (in green), this is the date that the page was last updated.

With that in mind do please access the internet, (lots of links on page 4 ) to double check times etc.
We all know that they can be Late, Early and Cancelled!

We would like to recommend the following  website, which we have used to source our pages 2, 3 and 4:  Railway Herald / railtours

A further recommended link is www.hungerfordvirtualmuseum.co.uk
which will give you information about Hungerford from 1845, with thanks to Hugh Pihlens.

Railways – History, Memorabilia and Nostalgia, four (pdf) pages of info, will open in a separate window.

Enjoy, go see, sniff the smell, listen to the sounds, but please be very very safe.
