DRB also known as Police Checks
Sadly we live in times where this type of service requires our drivers to be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DRB). There is no cost to you.
New CHAIN Volunteers fill in an application form available from the office, you are welcome to fill it in there, take it home or we can post it to you. Or you can click contacts on the left, scroll down to download a pdf online. When you return the form it is then passed to our Chair who will contact you to arrange an interview.
For this interview you will need to bring your driving licence, passport, utility bill and an official piece of paperwork with your National Insurance number (an old P60 perhaps).
At the interview, together we fill in the DRB form and check through the identification documents. The DRB form is then sent to West Berkshire Council for processing, the approved DRB Certificate is received back approximately 4 weeks later.
Then it’s welcome to CHAIN, whether you be driving your own car, or the special wheelchair estate car or the Handybus.
For the wheelchair vehicle another 30 to 60minutes are involved showing you over the vehicle and it’s special gear, please see the Chairman Vehicle section.
For the Handy Bus, there are one or two 30 minute trips involved and a special test. There is no cost to you. Please see Handybus Driving page.
